Getting Online
So - if you ever came by where I am now, you would see how much of a chellenge it is to get online. My room is in a reconverted attic - I am six fet tall and I sleep in a room with a sloping ceiling - I average about one bump per day - but it's getting better.
Anyways...The easiest way I found to get online now is through my cell phone and the GPRS connection. I don't have a land line so this is really the only way. TIM, one of the main Italian providers has a great deal out - for 20 Euro a month you can get online Monday - Friday from 18:00 to 8:00 - and all day and night on weekends and holidays. Plus - 20 MB of during the week time for the month. I saw that add and jumped at it quickly.
So far, it has worked great. The connection is damn slow, but it's better than nothing and on the weekends I just keep the thing on - till the battery dies.
There is a relatively new thing out there, UMTS, which is supposed to be the speed of a DSL connection from the cell phone - an Italian company, 3, has great offers - something like 150 Euro for the phone which includes 60 Euro of credit - but where I am now, there still isn't a UMTS signal - so I will wait, patiently.
SO - all you peeps out there with super fast, high speed this and that, feel grateful, because the rest of the world isn't so lucky!!
Ciao
(Nice day today...I'm going for a bike ride)
