A couple of nights ago we took our parents out to Primo on Sunset. This cafe is the most European style cafe I have seen here in the states. The food isn't great and is very far from anything European but the openness and the way the food was ordered was very much so Europe.
The chalkboard menu has what's available for food and a quick glance at the offerings through the glass windows will show you that as well.
We chose a random mixture of plates and tastings including chicken parmigian, a cheese pizza with mushrooms, a tuna sandwich, and a grilled vegetable salad.
My mom ordered a hot tea and with this stupid and ridiculous tea service tool they have really needs to go. You set this tool over your cup and in goes the tea..."ooooo - its automatic"
This tool is so stupid that they should recall the damn thing. Tea gets everywhere and Primo didn't have any tea cups so you can see the paper cup we used.
One other thing about tea like this. My mom ordered some funk Jasmine Lemon tea mix that wasn't very good - the person who made the tea put so much loose leaf into the container that when we poured it into the cup it was like mud - darker then the night.
I went back to the person and he told me I steeped it for too long. Buddy - you asked me to steep it fo 3 to 5 min. and when I got to my table the tea was already black. F-OFF.
The breaded chicken breast was tasty covered in cheese and tomato sauce - not great but not bad either.
Desserts were all mediocre. The crepe batter tasted old and the tiramisu and almond lemon tart were both dry (prob. from sitting in the refrigerator for too many days). The coffee wasn't great either but the nice thing about this place is that you can take a break on Sunset Blvd., sit outside and relax with friends and that's not so bad.
They also sell beer!
